ERR_URL_INVALID — URL Invalid

What the User Sees

A warning toast that repeats the validator’s reason (for example “Invalid URL format”, or “Only HTTP and HTTPS URLs are supported”), plus the next step: paste the full link, starting with https://.

What Causes This Error

“Convert from URL” (services/url-import.ts) runs validateFetchUrl first. Any failure that is not a private/internal-address block returns this code. That covers a missing scheme (www.site.edu/a.pdf), a non-http(s) scheme (ftp://), credentials in the URL, or a URL longer than 2048 characters. Internal-address blocks return ERR_URL_SSRF_BLOCKED instead.

Resolution Steps

For Users

  1. Copy the link from the browser’s address bar, so it starts with https://, and paste it again.

For Administrators

  1. No action is needed. This is a user-input warning and is not recorded.
